Bull Island, also known as North Bull Island, is a prominent nature reserve located in Dublin 3. This unique sand spit, which developed over the last 200 years, is a thriving biosphere and offers a plethora of activities and sights for visitors.Dollymount Strand, a 5 km sandy beach on Bull Island, is popular for long walks, sunbathing, and kitesurfing, offering stunning views over Dublin Bay and Howth. Adjacent to it, Bull Wall, a stone sea barrier, provides excellent sea bathing and swimming opportunities. As a UNESCO biosphere reserve, Bull Island is a haven for wildlife, including common and grey seals, pygmy shrews, numerous bird species, and protected species like the Marsh Fritillary butterfly and the common lizard. The island also features two golf courses, the Royal Dublin Golf Club and St. Anne's Golf Club, and the Happy Out caf for refreshments.
Accessible from Dublin via car or public transport, the island offers free parking on the Causeway Road and Dollymount Beach.
Excellent transport links are served by a busy bus corridor on the Clontarf road , while Clontarf dart station is a 40 min walk by the Clontarf promenade. If cycling is your preferred transport a brisk 20 mins will get you to the city centre!
